hpWCS – high performance Water Conditioning System

The hpWCS enables the proven, extremely repeatable AFA physico-chemical process to run at extremely high acoustic power. Higher power enables Continuous Flow processes to run at higher flow rates and with low variation; important for scale-up manufacturing.
The hpWCS apparatus integrates the critical physical parameters such as; temperature, dissolved oxygen, particulates in the acoustic coupling water bath, and the temperature of the flow cell water jacket coolant, to enable the AFA process to operate beyond the traditional steady-state Covaris conditions. By tightly controlling and maintaining the properties of the acoustic couplant fluid, the resultant energy transferred to the sample is highly stable and reproducible.
WCS – Water Conditioning System
The Covaris Water Conditioning System (WCS) is an optional accessory for the S-Series, E-Series, and L-Series Focused-ultrasonicators. The system was designed for core facilities with multiple users and robotic, automation applications. The WCS circulates the sample processing bath water through both a particulate filter and an ultraviolent (UV) sterilizer to enable the distilled or deionized water to remain clean and free of algae growth for up to one month; both of which will diminish the AFA efficiency and reproducibility
The WCS includes a rack for the Focused-ultrasonicator laptop computer to “sit” above the WCS which reduces linear bench space.
The WCS also incorporates an “elapsed hours” timer and “maintenance due” indicator for the particulate filter and UV lamp replacement which will be activated after one year of use. In addition, in the case of a blockage in the system water flow, a “Check Flow” indicator will warn the user that maintenance or service is required. Both of these indicators and the circulation hose hookups are located on the front panel of the system.
